There are three: Maharishi Marma Therapy, Maharishi Light Therapy with Gems, and Maharishi AyurVeda Aroma Therapy.
What groups them is not the part of the body they address. Each was developed, or restored from the classical descriptions, under Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's own guidance, and each is taught within Maharishi AyurVeda as one of its consciousness-based disciplines rather than as a technique on its own. Each also has its own practitioner training through the Maharishi College of Perfect Health International.
Two are therapies. The third, Aroma Therapy, is a consultation with a short therapy at the end of it.
One thing is true of all three, and of everything else given here: the people who give them meditate. For these three it is written into the certification, and at MERU it holds across the house — the treatment technicians, the Panchakarma therapists and the Vaidyas all practise Transcendental Meditation.
Three disciplines that exist because Maharishi set out to revive the whole knowledge of health, and the technologies that carry it.
Therapy
A hundred and eight points, gently enlivened
Marma points are the junctions where muscle, vein, ligament, bone and joint meet, and where prana, the life force, gathers. The classical texts describe 107 of them. Maharishi AyurVeda counts 108, adding atma, the Self.
What distinguishes this from acupressure is the pressure, or the absence of it. The points are not pressed. They are enlivened — approached gently enough to open on their own, with a touch lighter than almost anyone expects. Specific blends of essential oils are applied at each point, chosen for you.
The word marma means hidden, or secret. Most of our treatment technicians hold the Marma certification, so it is given by the same team that gives the oil treatments.

Less pressure than you will believe until it is happening.
Therapy
Light, through gemstones
Soft light is passed through high-quality gemstones and directed onto specific areas of the body. You lie down fully dressed, and nothing touches you.
A session runs about seventy-five minutes, with a rest at the end. It opens with the practitioner testing the gemstones with you, one at a time, working from how you respond to each.
Each gemstone has its own crystalline structure and its own colour, and so passes light differently. It is given as a course of three rather than singly, and that is how it is meant to be taken.
The subtlest thing we offer, and the only one where nothing touches you at all.
From Christian Dior to Ayurveda
Joachim Roller, a gemologist and jeweller who had been a chief designer at Christian Dior. He learned Transcendental Meditation, and some time later asked Maharishi how gemstones might be used for health. Maharishi told him to look into Ayurveda.
He spent the next thirty years on the answer, working under Maharishi's guidance with his wife Iris. The two of them now oversee the therapy worldwide and have trained more than two hundred practitioners between them.
Consultation
A conversation, and then the oils
A consultation about essential oils, ending with a short therapy using the oils chosen for you. It is given by Andréia Castilho, who heads the Department of Maharishi AyurVeda Aroma Therapy at the Maharishi College of Perfect Health International, and who sets the standard for this discipline worldwide.
You are asked to complete a short questionnaire beforehand, so the time is spent on you rather than on paperwork. At the consultation you sit down rather than lie down, your constitution is assessed, and you leave with a recommendation: which oils suit you, and how to use them at home. It takes about an hour.
Oils are sorted here by what they do to the doshas rather than by fragrance alone. Which suits you depends on your constitution and on the season.

Marma points are larger than acupressure points and influence the smaller ones. The greater difference is in the touch: in Maharishi AyurVeda Marma Therapy the points are not pressed to produce an effect, but enlivened gently enough that they open by themselves.
